In April 2018 Patricia O’Brien was invited to the University of Hawai’i to be the keynote at the inaugural Hawaiian and Pacific Studied Symposium, Ke Awa Lau O Nāulu at the West Oahu campus. Many thanks to Dr Sa’iliemanu Liliomaiava-Doktor and Dr Leilani Basham for this wonderful event and others giving O’Brien the opportunity to talk about Tautai with Pasifika colleagues and students. O’Brien was also generously hosted at the home of Cha and Tihati Jack Thompson, Sāmoa’s Honorary Consul in Hawai’i, pictured here with Sa’iliemanu Liliomaiava-Doktor and Robert Doktor. It was a very rewarding trip.
